The Route of Romanticism

  • Type: Competition Experiences
  • Duration: About 6 hours | Difficulty: Easy | Date: 19th and 26th of September of 2016

Our route of Romanticism will take you into the heart of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, UNESCO World Heritage and its fabulous architectural monuments.

Our walk starts in a beautiful wood from where we will reach the Moorish castle walls. Relive a thousand years of history in the visit to the renovated Moorish Castle. Step back further in time, and see the remains of villages from the Neolithic period with about five thousand years old.

Our journey into the amazing 19th Century begins at the Pena Park. Indulge in the intimacy of it’s gardens and large Victorian lakes. From here we will go to the “Pena” palace and it’s gorgeous architecture, the most important center of the Sintra Cultural Landscape, as well as its romantic botanical gardens. Before the guided visit to the Pena Palace you can lunch inside the palace, or bring your own picnic and have a pleasant lunch inside the lovely gardens.

Enjoy the originality of the Chalet of Countess “D’Edla” and discover the woods which are a tribute to the “Romanticism” movement.
