Our tour begins in the former military fortress, “Abano Fort”, located on the beach of the same name. Built in the seventeenth century, was integrated into all the fortresses that formed a defensive belt on the Cascais coast. Hills above we discover signs of a territory and populations with a long land history. Until recently, devoted themselves to pastoralism, the tilling of the land, as well as the grinding mills and windmills, and even the bread ovens and lime, from where they removed the food for sustenance and raw materials to build their dwellings . We end where we began, in the small Abano beach, rugged as its ancient people, not before, if we have some luck, to be overflown by an eagle-winged-round, one of the most common birds of prey in the area.
